Post 173, Holiday Florida was chartered in April 1975 as Holiday Bicentennial Post 173. Michael J. Cicero had moved to Florida, only a year and half prior and saw the need for an American Legion in Holiday. For his efforts in organizing the post, he was elected as the first commander. He was proud of the post and proud to be be the commander. Sadly only a year after receiving the charter Michael Cicero would pass away. The first meeting after his passing it was voted to rename the post in his honor.
